I know sand comes up as a topic about every two weeks but........
I just put together a new 60 gal. I put black aquarium sand that i bought from the LFS. I rinsed it out a few times but....i keep getting a lair of sand that floats at the top cought by air bubbles. It forms as a ball and you have to take a net or your hand to break it up. Ive agitated the sand so many time and these air bubble keep floating up.
I still have a while before i have to put fish in it. I wanted to put an air stone in but im scared that it will just create more bubbles.
Suggestions?

Run your finger through the sand in the tank to get the air pockets out. You may need to do a water change afterwards, as anything you missed in the washing will surely come out

I've had this. It seems to sort itself out.
Something I wasn't prepped for was the black substrate made my fish adopt darker and duller colours.
