building sump

by makavelithedon963941

i just recently built my own sump with some acrylic due to odd measurments in my stand (couldnt find a sump to fit in my stand) my question is about the return pump. I grabbed some hosing for the return and conncted a maxi jet 1200 to it and i had water flowing up and out of the 5ft hose, i will be shortening the hose about a foot or so, will this maxijet be enough? or do i need something better?

whatever would be sufficent , the water has to travel around 3 1/2 to 4 ft max with one bend in the hose, yes its a 40, how many gallons perhour would do the trick?
