K. So, you have a 25G tank. So, you have less than 1wpg for lighting which is a low light tank.
And, the only problem you have is you do not have spot algae on your swords but you have it on the glass. All slow growing plants get gsa. If you have had those plants in there for 17mths then there would be gsa on your swords

running a 40w over the planted in my profile earned me no gsa while I kept co2 steady. on a side note its been completely obliterated by bga (blue/green algae) almost 8 months ago. I tried to revive it 7 months ago after removing most of the plants (including the giant amazon sword) and it didn't go so well. It's just sitting there with a bunch of shale piled in it for my sidthimunki loaches now. -.- I never noticed much of a gsa buildup on the leaves, though I'm sure they accumulated more then the glass ever did.
I usually remove mine with a razor every once-in-awhile which is risky on bowfronts, but I'm careful.
