The only time my fishes were grasping for air was when I turned my co2 system to the max. Once I lowered the co2 output all is fine now.

Where in your post did you mention that you are running CO2?
No place.
And your PH is low because that is what CO2 does.

The PH is not low from overcrowding, and your fish are not gasping for air because of your overcrowding. The PH is low from the CO2.
Your fish may or may not be gasping for air because of your CO2.
You need to have pearling plants to even think that could be the reason why.
For some reason in my head, I doubt that you do.

I'm not running CO2, thats why I never wrote that in any of my posts. That was PlantsAtemyfish. I have fake plants in my tank.

oops... you probably need to get a powerhead and aim it toward the surface. Do you see any kind of film on the top of the water?

Wait, are you using CO2? Agree that low ph is not due to overcrowding. Probably just what is coming out of your tap. Have you tested your water straight from the tap? Many fish prefer a lower ph. What kind of fish do you have? I wish my tap water were at 6.4! Also agree that you should up the water changes and look to rehome some of the fish!

We are confused, PlantsAteMyFish said he was running CO2. CaptianBabba said he has fakes and no CO2.
