nope... works well in marine. I've read this in many articles and don't see why it wouldn't work in fresh.

neons are really bad fish to start out with. Alot of people make that mistake. Do the shrimp method or a cheap feeder fish.

Neons are seriously one of the worst fish you could start with!
If you have access to a bit of someone's mature media, tlspmm's suggestion is ideal. I get the feeling that you aren't going to trouble yourself to track any down and i'm pretty sure you aren't going to trouble yourself to research how to do a fishless cycle either. With that in mind, i'd say go with the zebra danio.

I got my sponge from my 20 gal. tank and put it in my fluval305. Couldn't resist getting 10 neons for 9.99 so we will see how things go. Will try to get a picture up soon.

When I upgraded from my 10gal to my 36gal I just used one of the filters from the 10Gal and waited a week before water change.... I just tested the water daily to make sure it didn't need to be changed early...
