Finishing my freshwater aquarium
I now have two aquariums, one fresh and one salt. I want to finish my fresh for good. I mean that I want to have a tank that IM proud of. My tank has 6 plants all short because of a dreaded algea problem Ive had. I want to get rid of the algea and get my tank to a pretty start. Any help please.

buy a uv sterilizer. That would be the best thing for the algae. Then your plants are competing for nutrients and light.

I'd get a stronger light, at least 3 times that in wattage.
I use hardware store florescents on my 100 gallon. The bulbs are $1.99 a peice and I have 4, 4 foot long 40 watt bulbs.

The bigger the tank the less watts per gallon needed, but I think you'll need at least 60 watts for a 20 to grow plants like most of what I grow, which are lower light plants.
