How to subdue lighting???
I was wondering if anyone knew a good way to subdue the lighting for my oscars, he hates the bright light and I am looking for ways besies floating plants to decrease the light. Thanks alot.

ive seen this done at my lfs wat they do is they take out one of the bulbs in the lighting housing that way one side of the tank is darker of course u need a light housing with 2 bulbs

Yea, water lillies are really cool. They look great from underneath and from the top, and there's also leaves at the bottom of the plant too. You can always snip them when they get too thick.

Some aquarium stores in larger cities have them, and also plant nurseries, landscaping/pond busnesses, and some hardware stores with plant departments.
You can also buy them online, though I never have.
I've gotten mine either from the aquarium store and from people who have them in ponds. I break off a small bulb and use that. I'd think about maybe cleaning it in a mild bleach solution if gotten from a pond, scrub the bulb, etc.......just in case it has any parisites or diseases.
There is something called a bannana plant (or something) I've seen at Petco. It's roots look like banannas and they have little round leaves. Eventually it'll put up lilly pads. Good luck.
