I think you should go with one school or the other and increase the numbers. I have a 55 gallon here's what I have:
1 angelfish
3 pearl gourami
7 tiger barbs
4 emerald green corydoras
2 yo-yo loaches
and about 30 neon tetras
I've had fewer neons and they just aren't as striking in such a big tank. You can sort of see them in my profile pic. If you scroll down it's near the bottom. They often break apart into two separate schools. I used to have about 15 neon tetras and 15 rummy nose tetras. As the rummy nose died I just added more neons and I'm much more pleased with the impact it has this way. I'd go with around 20-25 zebra danios and not get the cardinals, they're awfully sensitive anyway.
What kind of rams are you thinking of? German Blues are very sensitive and require certain conditions to thrive, but Bolivian Rams are very hardy and may do well.

You can stock maybe 3 at a time in a tank this size. I added my schooling fish last and did those 6-8 at a time. In your case, I would go with the danios first because your tank probably isn't finished cycling and they are the hardiest of your fish. I don't know if you decided to go with all danios or if you are still split between danios and cardinals, but here's what I would do:
Day 1 - add 5 zebra danios
Day 7 - add 5 more zebra danios
Day 14 - add 5 more zebra danios
Day 21 - add 5 more zebra danios
Day 28 - add 3 bolivian rams
Day 42 - add 1 angelfish <-----note the 2 week wait here
I'd wait several months to add the plecos because they really do better in a mature tank.
