Going Fresh?...Marineland filters

by Tien6079

I have been having issues with my Marineland C-series canister filters. After a while, they lose the power to move water. The tubes are clean and impellers are fine. Has anyone else had this problem? I do turn the filters off every day or two when I feed. Could turning the flitters on and off this often wear them out? My C-220 stopped working and would only drizzle water. Marineland sent me an entirely new unit so I am good to go. I just don't want it to happen again.

On another note, I am contemplating selling my salt water set up. I want to get a 500 gallon tank dedicated to large Amazonian critters. I am thinking Pacu, Arowana, large Oscars, and maybe some Red Belly Piranha. However, if I do this it will take YEARS to get the money. I want it professionally built as a room separator. I will not have a tank for 6 years or more lol! I don't know if I can go that long without a tank!

go with a nano until you get your big tank setup
I would do a small 12g JBJ with an auto top off. Something to do and something to look forward to. :)
