Check this out. In the following clip my dad is cleaning the dirty aquarium plant from dirty using an electric toothbrush. It works pretty well because as you can see there are a lot of chunks floating around.

but don't the debris just float right back on the plants?
why don't you just get some snails to clean the plants? Olive Nerite snails will love to clean your plants.
The snails in my tank, clean everything for me. And in turn, I supply the snails with a daily supply of food.
What a partnership, eh?
