Can a green swordtail and a red wag swordtail breed?

Stupid question I know but my green male wants nothing to do with my red wag female.

If they're different species of fish they should not be able to breed together. I know that it can happen with horses and donkeys or lions and tigers (lyger) but I dont think with fish.

I believe your swordtails can breed, they are just different colors. Swordtails and platies can even breed. Your "female" swordtail could be a young male that hasn't yet developed its sword. I've seen males get quite large before they start to show a sword. There could actually be several reasons that haven't had any hanky panky in the tank. Or maybe they have...
