Hey evryone im about to start setting up my fish tank and so excited!
My plans are to have dead and live rock mix, maybe 2 bio-wheels, and 65W lamp for now.

PS: Im going to be asking alot of questions so that I dont mess up like all the other times!

HERE WE GO!

HOLD ON, DO I PUT THE SAND IN AFTER I ADDED WATER AND SALT TO THE TANK?

no sand first along with rock, dont leave the rock otu of water for too long, put your rock in first then sand then put a bowl in it and poru the water into the bowl so it doesnt mess your sand up

Make sure you premix the salt and water for 24 hours before adding it into the tank. Also, check the temp and salinity too, especially if your putting it in with Live Rock and Live Sand. You don't want to shock any of the beneficial critters.

thats a good question u ask, because i have a question about that, when adding the rock and sand in the tank, should I have water mixed with the salt and have it sitting for 24 hours also before pouring the water in the tank over the sand and live rock?

well honestly...... im sure there are other ppl on here that highly disagree but hotmixing has never had any bad results for me..... even with my fish and corals ive had absolutely nothign bad happen... i jus use airline tubing to drip the new water in after i pulled about 10 gallons out. As long as the temp is halfway around hte same and the salinity is close to being hte same i dont see a problem with it..... then again thats just me....
im sure ppl like boss, pimp... all the old guys dont like it

hot mixing will be critical if only you introduce atleast 30 percent of it to an established tank. but it you are using a hot mix on a 10 to 15 percent water change and you have a large tank. there is a posibility of having little or no effect to your water
