I felt the same way when I first read what boss wrote but then reread it and understood what he meant... I was about to give him shit for bashing FW too....there are alot of us FW guys who put just as much into our tanks as those SW guys.....I guess we can let him slide this time..lol

Hell I envy you freshwater guys......I cant keep a freshwater planted to save my life. I have failed three times......I just understand the saltwater better than I do fresh. My reef tank makes since to me....planted tanks.........yeah something about CO2 and keeping enough nutrients to make plants grow but not algae........yeah how the hell do you do that....haha. I like to keep my nutrients low my lighting high and my corals lush.

well thanks for not bashing my head in guys..................i concur with fishboy, i have seen FW tanks that blow salt systems out of the water {pun intended} and i would never even attempt a planted system for that very reason
unless someone is just flat abusing this hobby {fresh, brackish or salt} i would never in anyway put them down, ive been there and got tons of help, im still there and need help all the time, so i encourage all flavors of water to become better and better to further this incredable hobby

It was almost 15 years for me since I had a tank. Got married and we set up my wifes old tank. Now (even with ich running rampant in our tank), we love it. The challenges, the rewards, the way our son LOVES playing with the fish (anybody know how to keep a 2 year old from bashing the crap out of a tank?), the way our 5 month old daughter gets wide-eyed while sitting on my lap watching the fish swimming... Do I have to go on? It's like having a pet (dog/cat/bird/rabbit...) without all the noise, filth, toys around the house. Plus, you don't have to physically walk a fish ;)
