cure for red algae.......don't try this at home

by Snowboss4492

I FOUND IT !!!!!!!

unfortunately we had a pretty nasty ice storm last thursday night and lost power for 5 days ...............after finding out that a surge took out 2 tvs, my precious coffee pot, my wifes computer and the controller board in the boiler control {no heat} Columbia county was put into a state of emergancy and had a no travel ban for a couple days ................

all that being said my tank ended up 52 degrees before i was able to get my generator up to speed and the boiler fixed so we had heat again............i can't believe the only thing i lost in the tank after 52 degree temps and 4 days running half the equipment on a generator was the red algae >>>>>HAHAHAHAHAHA WOOHOO

DISCLAIMER: ...........don't try this at home

the clowns and crabs are happy as can be and the tank looks really good

what a ride

good to hear things panned out boss. Heh. I endured the storm in '98 in southern Maine. We didn't have power for a little over 2 weeks with temps hovering in the mid 20's - 30's. Glad I didn't have any fish then..

Wow...in Vegas I have the opposite problem! We were not running our AC in the house while at work. I came home early one day when I noticed that it got extreemly hot upstairs mid-day. I tested the water in my 3 gallon betta tank. It was 96 degrees!!!!!!!!! I felt bad! I started keeping the AC on all day and it not only keeps it cool but actually saves me money on the electrical bill. However the heat only encourages algea growth.
