i bought a 5.5 tank and some light grid for ceiling lights cut it up to hold a filter pad. i used small zip ties to hold it all together. put a pump in there, and that was it. i just found out that if you have enough live rock you dont need bio balls, so i am taking out my bio balls slowly to fit my skimmer and eventually a uv sterilizer

how did you set up the plumbing on yours? ive heard of siphoning the water from the main tank down to the sump, then using a pump to get it back up. would an extra pond pump work?

saltwater is corosive watch what you put in your tank. you do need a waterpump to get the water back to the tank. dont forget the over flow box,

not to mention a pond pum is made to move a lot of water - - might have to restrict it so much that it'll just be running hot all the time - -eating electricity

i bought an overflow box to siphon the water to the sump, and at first i just used a maxijet 1200 power head that worked fine. i eventually bought a bigger pump to add more flow.
