so i was just curious about one thing, well im going to mexico in a few days for 5 days and well i was thinking about maybe getting some live rock or coral from the beach and stuff. would it be ok if i did this or not? what about crabs or an octo if i can find one and other little things that get stuck in the tide pools. well just curious if i was able to do it? thanks.

You can get into some serious trouble if you get caught taking anything from the ocean or beach

all that aside................octopus are one of those totally amazing creatures that should just never be kept in tanks, from everythin i've read, in a really high quality set up their life spans don't go much past 6 months, on top of that they require very specific lighting, will eat almost anything you have in the tank and are extemely smart and incredable escape artists.................one article i read was about a guy who had a reef tank right next to his octopus tank and he started noticing things missing from the reef tank over weeks and weeks of time {like livestock} so he sets up a camera and catches the octopus lifting the lid off his tank {with a brick on it} crawling into the reef, haveing a couple snacks and returning to his tank.......over a few hours time............................thats just a little to intelligent for me.......lol
