are uv sterilizer good in fish tank if so what are they used for and what do they do for a tank

they kill anything that is freefloating in your water, ie.......parasites like ich the also help control algae or green water

I'v seen them in ponds too! They make the water insanely clear...gonna try one out in the new pond this summer I think.
