Angelfish damaging Amazon sword plant while breeding.

by cedricandcandy

Hi everyone,

I've just joined up on this site, and my profile is still pending approval at this stage. When its up and running I'd really appreciate your rating and comments.

Anyway, in our planted tank we've got two Amazon swords and a pair of Angelfish who are a breeding pair but we do not breed them. Before the Angelfish lay their eggs they frantically clean the surface they have chosen and then go ahead and lay. Sometimes they choose the Amazon sword leaves and their cleaning makes the leaves really paper thin and eventually the leaves disintergate.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any suggestions on how to stop the damage? There are other surfaces for them to lay their eggs on but this doesn't stop them from choosing the leaves sometimes.

Thanks.

i would just suggest moving the plant leaves around when they start to clean the leaf angels are particular about the angles that the surface is that they plan to lay their eggs on so if you disturb that they might find another spot.
