DIY water change IV drip??

by jweb1369

I have been thinking about making something like this for when I do water changes. Something similar to an IV drip. Does anyone use a device like this? Ever heard of anything like this?

Sounds over kill to me. I added water slowley to my 100 gallon as the tank water had a low pH and the tap water had a high pH. It took a few days before I filled it all the way up.

If you have an automatic topper offer you can have a reservoir tank and keep the main tank at a constant level. I'd use RO water for that, and with live plants the nitrates get used up so water changes would be pretty infrequent.

how do you make an automatic topper offer? I don't fully understand how they work without over flowing the main.

I've only heard about them being avaliable for aquariums. I believe they work like the float valve on a toilet. When the float gets low enough it opens a valve to let in water. When the float gets high enough the valve closes.

Hmm, interesting. So If I buy toilet parts then I could probably make one inside a small tank right?

I think a smaller valve system would be preferable to one from a toilet. Google auto top off, aquarium ball float valve, or something like that and see what people use for aquariums.
