The upgrade is live rock. Since live rock is pricey at about $5-9 per lb, you could get about 20% live and the rest base rock at about $2 per pound.

With just a few small fish, you could run it just like a freshwater system with the HOB biowheels. Live rock is not absolutely necessary. You may just have to do more water changes to keep nitrates in check.

yes i have all the test equipment. it is hard for me to tell the similar colors sometimes

lol...i have my wife double check me when i test just for that reason . . . . i did get an instant ocean powder test kit and they use a colored piece of plastic that slides in like a cartridge...........then you look through the tested water and the cartdridge , very reliable and it tests very well too.................just a thought
