if you're going to spend some serious cash on a skimmer i would suggest an ASM G1 or an octopus... srsly...

i don't like any of the skimmers they have on fosters... i like the aquac remora... i have one on my 90g tank with a aquaclear 70 400gph pump... it works great...

anyways...

i'll look for this site that has teh deals on teh skimmArs!!!...

octopus site...

here's the spot...
http://www.aquacave.com/searchresult.as ... goryID=222

that's the best skimmer for the amount of cash they want IMHO...

oh and as for powerheads... yeah... i would get two koralia 4's or 3's... i have two 3's in my 90g tank... it's only 3' wide, so i really didn't need that much watermovement in that tank... i also recomend an eductor on the return nozzle... i might get one for my tank today... or tomorrow... whatever...

good luck...

any other questions...???

It's basically a venturi. Just like putting your thumb over the end of a garden hose. Just accelerates the speed of the exiting water.

it is not like a venturi...

this uses a stream of water to force MOAR water around the stream to flow in it's general direction...

so if you have say, a 100gph stream of water... with an enductor, you will get a 500gph flow going in your tank...

I second the motion on the Octopus skimmers - pretty much set it and forget it after they break in... the "NW" series run in the sump - OP didn't specify if he is planning a sump? I hope so - a definite plus for your tank...
