Light hood help!

by darkruby

Hullo,

I have a 55 gallon aquarium that is almost 36 inches ( 3 feet across). I was wondering how long my light hood would have to be to covere the whole top without going ove the sides for the only sizes this company offers is 32 and 39 inches... what do I do?

Are you asking for the light housing, or the actual wooden hood compartment?

Yea,it devides half way. I was also looking around and I found a Light hood with adjustable sides so I think that would do fine but I had another question. I put this before but does lunar lights have ANY bad affect on freshwater fish or plants? If there is any bad effects I really need to know. Lunar lights are usually meant for marine tanks but I think they look really cool.
Any info helps =)

lunar lighting is LED and as a rule doesn't have any benifeit or bad effects in low wattage - - I.E. although it is salt water my 20 gallon long tank only has one white LED moon light and it's perfect, just enough light to give it that shimmering look and gives the fish a more natural light cycle to live in - - -on a 55 id go with 2-3 white leds and it would look sweet in the dark
