i see. do you put the unit inside of your aquarium such as in a sump or do you put them with your sorce of tap water?

Mine is mounted on the wall in the laundry room. I tapped off from the cold water line for the washer to feed the filter.

the only place i could have one is in or on my aquarium. would it have any benefits if i ran it like that? would it work with saltwater too?

You can't put it in the aquarium. Can you mount it under your kitchen sink or in the laundry room?

Look at the pic I linked to in my previous post.

It's entire purpose is to make pure water that you then use to make your saltwater by adding the salt and to use for topoff water.

It is not a filter for the aquarium itself.

Depends on the condition of the tap water in your area.

Why would it not work? This filter does not hook up to the aquarium. It is just for making water.

i get my water from a bath tub and i dont think the rest of my family would appreciate it. unless i could hook it up only when im making new water.
