okay i know that i have this big tank and only like 4 fish in thier this is the scoop my brothers wife (which i refuse to call her my sister in law) got mad at me and put just a drop or two of my body wash in my tank and it killed every thing i lost 20 cichlids which the total cost was $150 of fish i cought the soad in time so it didnt do too much damage. I got this really nice piece of driftwood $70 is the vaule of this wood i put in the tank to water warp so it would sink but the wife of my bro put soap in the tank so the wood absorbed most the soap and now the really nice drift wood can never be used so thats the scoop. I am going to get more cichlids as soon as i get permission from my fiance :(

About Yourself: My name is Ruben and to start off i want to let yall know that i am a christian. My fiance is the reason I got in this hobby. She likes to be out side alot so i thought i would take her to this creek and so i did and when we got their there was a lot of baby cat fish swimming around the surface of the water and she thought that they where so cute so i caught a couple for here and we took them home and then i really enjoyed watching them swim around then i bought a ten gallon then a twenty gallon now i have a 120 gallon and i know3 love cichlids my wife to be still loves those cat fish so if any body knows cool species of cat fish let me know thanks and just to note i am in he aviation industry i really love air planes!!!!! COMMENTS AND ADVICE ARE WELCOME!!!!!!
Advice: if want to be successful with cichlids get the holly rock they love it and they tend to show their natural behavior also keep up with the water changes every 2 weeks sounds like a chore at but it pays off. and when you go get your cichlid qt a fish shop make sure you dont get any from the tank that says assortment cichlids because chances are they are hybrid and thus they are not the real mccoy. Oh and before i end dont forget to research what type of cichlids you have they can get a little pricey and you dont want to put them with other cichlid that going to kill them. thats just the beginning
Fish Kept: restarting
Plants Kept: if any one knows anything about cichlids you cant have real plants in there with them.
Tank Size: 120
Description: 120 gallon cichlid tank, i have rena xp4 filstar rated for up to 260 U.S gallons, 2 maxi jet 1200 power heads, 300 watt heater, 120 pounds of cichlid substrate, digital thermometer, red and blue l.e.d lights for the night when turned on at night they high light different parts of the tank (really cool) and about 150 pounds of holly rock.

Quote: I'm just gonna get this one last $10 thing, honey, and we're all set on fish stuff. ;-)
About Yourself: My 5 gal betta tank sits directly in front of me (where a computer monitor would go) in my tall corner desk. The 10 gal is up on the top shelf of my desk, and the 55 gal is 3 feet to my left, so I'm virtually surrounded by fishies in my home office. I'm a full time student, an avid gardener (succulents, vegetables & herbs), and I paint murals with my darling husband, who is a professional artist. We also have a terrarium with a Tree Frog named Smeagol, and a very spoiled Kitty named The Fi.
Advice: Research BEFORE buying anything! NO impulse buys! * Especially for size needs and fish compatibility Don't be afraid to return your fishies back to the store if your setup isn't right for them yet. They are living creatures who deserve to be comfortable!
Fish Kept: in the 55 gal: 3 juvenile fantail goldfish (Salvador, Gala, & Gustav), 1 baby leopard plecostomus (Georgios), 3 fancy guppies (Virginia, Franz, & Maryanne). ~30 guppy fry in a baby-net corral in the 5.5 gal: 1 male crowntail betta (Piet), 1 female African dwarf frog (Dorothea), 1 mystery snail (Anton). in a 10 gal hospital tank: 1 juvenile black moor goldfish (Amadeo) who came home from the LFS with ich :-( .
Plants Kept: 6 varieties of freshwater plants. Except for the anacharis, I'm not sure of the species!
Tank Size: 55
Description: I have a 55 gal freshwater 48" X 21" X 13" filter: Penguin biowheel 350 (for the goldies, guppies, and the pleco) and a small 5.5 gal hex freshwater 12" tall, Marineland full setup w/ biowwheel filter (for the betta, dwarf frog & snail)

About Yourself: I'm only a beginner and have only been into fish for the past year or so. I originally started out with a small 21 litre orange "funky" tank, then I managed to comendire my dads fish, as he was keeping it in dreadful conditions.. and by this time my ish had grown a bit, so I thought I needed a bigger tank to allow for five goldfish to survive happily, because they were looking a little cramped. I then got a bigger tank, and fell in love with the little fat cute pearl scale fish they had on sale there as well, so I got two of those aswell *slaps wrist, bad me* and I got a few more snails aswell, hoping they don't breed too much. I always wanted a big tank, because when my dad gave a damn, he kept a big wall span tropical tank, which I used to love and watch for hours when I was younger, so I thought heh, why not? :) I can't wait to get my next tank for when i move out of my mums house. I'm unfortunatly leaving my coldwater tank behind because my mum likes it too much *rolls eyes* but that also means I can now start keeping tropical fishes and am really looking forward to it, as I'm gettin great advice from the staff at my local aquatic shop! :)
Advice: Not really as I'm new myself.. sorry :(
Fish Kept: I'm not sure of the exact names of each, but a standard Goldfish thats gradually turning white (Named Bruce), a Shubunkin (Named Sheila), a yellowy goldfish (Named Flapjack), a white fish, with a bright red slat on its head (Named Tidgey), a beautiful black goldfish (Named Side-board) and two Pearl Scales called Marble and CheesePuff. (Don't ask about the names, by fiance and brother named them all) I also have six Golden Apple snails, three black, and three regular (Two have names - Brian and Grubby)
Plants Kept: I only have fake plants :( and no coral.
Tank Size: 25
Description: It's not a great tank, but it will do for a beginner like me ^^ It's a 95 litre Fluval Elite Style coldwater aquarium (80x30x40cm) The lighting is a sun-glo but thats all i know :( My filtration includes a Fluval Plus 2, and a smaller Fluval Plus 1 for the extra fish I keep.
