Bet you thought this tank was put in the wrong category. This is my 55 Gallon freshwater Discus tank. I wanted a saltwater look with the beauty of Discus.
Most people do not even know what discus are. First thing the average person say's is, Nice saltwater tank!! What kind of colorful fish are they?
Just wanted to be a little different. |

| About Yourself: |
I am a cancer survior, this hobby has been a life saver!!! It is so relaxing and peaceful. I have come to appreciate the most out of life. I can only suggest if you take pride in anything you do, this hobby is most satisfying. The average person who see's your work are almost alway's in amazement, and want to start the fish craze themselves. |
| Advice: |
The best advice I can give to any new hobbyists are to do your water changes and do not get lazy!
The cleaner your tank the healthier your fish. I do water changes weekly and monthly filter maintenance and my fish could not be happier!! |

Albino Algae Eater, Neon Tetras, Cherry Barbs. Best way to take pictures of fish staying still are to turn off the lights and wait 20 mins and turn it back on so you can take good still photos! |

| Advice: |
Don't ever TRUST PETCO people! They don't know Sh*t! Bunch of dumb kids work there. One guy at the fish department told me it was okay to use the drops for alges, and fin rots and it killed 7 of my fish except for my betta he was the only one that survived....Do the research online on the fish before buying and don't listen to what the petco people say about what's the amount of drops to use, read it and put alittle less then what it tells you to put. |

My 38 Gallon Aquarium, I'm using a Marineland C-Series Multi Stage Canister Filter C-220, the best fiter out there. I personaly think this filter is better then the Eheim, because it allows no bypass, it forces the water through the filter media trays and not around them, all the other canisters allow 40% to 60%.

| Advice: |
Just be RELIGIOUS w/ what you're doing! You're taking care of live beings here. Their own well-being depends on your eagerness to learn about how they would exist & thrive in this controlled & unnatural environment. Research water quality, cause & effect of diseases on fishes, etc. |

Started this tank in November of 2005 when I was pregnant with my daughter to keep me busy. First it was just the two common goldfish and has grown from there. Still really new and learning from my mistakes. Like I said, tank isn't that old and there are more fish to come as I learn., also has lava rocks, driftwood, 150 pounds of sand, and 80 pounds of rock that came from our creek. And the background is wallpaper mosaic of water. |

"Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." |
| About Yourself: |
Stupid little Gorillaz(chyeah!) fan in NW Florida. We have a pond in out backyard, and we stocked it with Mosquitofish(second chyeah!). I was tempted to keep some, and was pestered even more when the Pensacola Fair came around...all those poor little Comet Goldfish :U !!! |
| Advice: |
Start small! Get a five or ten gallon, and stock your tank with Livebearers(Mollies, Platys, Guppies, Killifish, Mosquitofish, etc.) as they are hardy critters that can withstand falls/rises in temperature, underfeeding, overcrowding, etc.(though you should NOT do that to them!). Sand bottoms are easy to clean, and I bet they feel better to the fish, but don't use TOO MUCH sand! |
| Fish Kept: |
...everything from Sunfish to Waterdogs that lives in NW Florida or South Alabama! |
| Plants Kept: |
...*shrugs*
I have some wild hair grass...and lily pads... |
| Tank Size: |
28 |
| Description: |
28 gallon rectangular freshwater tank, *new* sand bottom(sand is easier to clean mess off of). I have a mixture of faux and live plants, rocks I have found in our local area, and fish I have caught. 1 Spotted Sunfish(female?), 1 Bullhead catfish(about 4-5"), 1 Razorback musk turtle, 1 River Cooter, both about 1 1/2 yrs. old. I use Tetra brand equiptment and Aquaculture, the normal brands. 1 30 gallon Carbon filter(Coal), and a cheap clamp light with a 60 watt bulb, for heating/lighting. I also use bricks for Decor in the tank, as many houses have crumbled near the rivers, creeks, and bluffs I explore. What the turtles don't eat, the fish eat. What they don't eat, the Catfish eats. If he dosen't eat it, the Crawfish will, so various animals are handy ;) |
