Quote: SHARKS ROCK!!!!
About Yourself: I have always loved fish i grew up with them helping my uncle since i was six but then my uncle thought it was time foe me to get my own tank when i turned 12 so he took me to buy my own tank and I've kept my male and female maroon banded clown fish and always loved sharks my whole life so i finally decided to get my final brown banded bamboo sharks. ilove to build tanks and i just decided to make my 4ft by 4ft octagon for my new sharks.
Advice: start with something simple like damsels easy to take care of for your first fish don't go out and spend loads of money on something cool and expensive because new salt water tanks take time to set up.
Fish Kept: maroon clown fish 5 years, I've had other brown banded sharks but got interested in tangs which for some reason i cant keep alive same with angelfish. only fish i've kept alive for long periods of time were yellow tang which i ended up selling because it was to aggressive towards my other fish i have also had good luck with my clowns and bamboo sharks which I've hatched many and sold due to size.
Corals/Plants Kept: I've kept many anemones for the clowns but they would only last for about 5 months they would do perfectly fine in those months and for no reason die off
Tank Size: 75
Description: I have a 75 gallon saltwater fish tank with 2 maroon gold stripe clown fish and 2 brown banded bamboo shark eggs which will soon be in there new aquarium( 4ft by 4ft octagon tank).

Quote: "Its not so hard"
About Yourself: I currently Install/maintain ElectronIc security systems for the Gov't and major corporations. I started out with freshwater aquariums for about two years, but never had the same fascination with freshwater fish as I did with saltwater fish. The color and uniqueness of the fish always caught my eye when I went into stores to go buy equipment and food for my fresh water tank. I was always scared to start a new hobby with saltwater fish (everyone saying how hard its and how expensive it can be) but once I moved in my new home I figured it was a great opportunity to start something new....so I did. This is my first tank and it has been up and running for since 11/12/07.
Advice: Do your homework before you start, take in consideration everything about starting a saltwater aquarium (ex: type of fish, rock, stand and whether or not ur going to do fish only or coral), buy for the future of your tank; not just for now. Find some one that has experience in saltwater aquaruims and that you can trust to help you make decisions to upkeep your tank correctly. Thanks Mark, for all you help and guidence throughout this process.

Quote: get busy living, or get busy dieing.
About Yourself: Im a student at the university of houston. I will graduate in December with a degree in political science and minor in architecture. I hope to get into residential project management after school. I got into fish tanks by chance about 5 years ago. A friend of mine had a large fresh water tank so when I got my own place, i started with a 10 gallon fresh water. Like everyone else in this hobby you get hooked and before you know it you've spent thousands of dollars and killed alot of fish, but once you get it down, theres no better hobby in the world, except maybe golf. I hope to increase my tank size someday, maybe a whole wall in my house!
Advice: Its a major investment of time and money. talk to people who have tanks and find a knowledgable fish store near your house, not the kid who works at the pet store! You need someone who actually has experience. keeping fish is a challenge, especially saltwater. most of the fish you'll want live in very specific places on Earth, in their natural habitat. You are trying to recreate these condtitons, that only exist in a few small places, in a tank! this is no easy task! you'll learn as you go. fish will no doubt die and money will be lost. But remember it is a hobby not piece of art, that requires no work once purchased, people like when they come over. A tank requires hours per week of maintainence, even with the best equipment. Its fun and challenging. The most important thing i've learned is: you can not over filter your water! Bigger is better!
Fish Kept: powder blue tang, red snapper, 4 random damsels, 2 long bulb anemones, 1 coral beauty angel fish, 2 pure ocellaris clown fish, 1 pure maroon clown fish, 1 hermitt crab.
Corals/Plants Kept: no live coral, or planets.
Tank Size: 55
Description: Tank is 55 gallons and made of glass and is standard size. Lite by Coralife Aqualight Quad Tube Compact Fluorescent Strip Lights (96 watts). Fish include: powder blue tang, red snapper, 4 random damsels, 2 long bulb anemones, 1 coral beauty angel fish, 2 pure ocellaris clown fish, 1 pure maroon clown fish, 1 hermitt crab. Tank is filtered by a 110 gallon wet filter and a 110 gallon wet dry bio ball system. Tank is also filtered by a 100 gallon protein skimmer. The tank is supported by a maple stand and matching canopy. Numerous bubble strips are in the tank for looks and to increase air content within the water. All water prior to being mix and placed in the tank is ran through a reverse osmosis filter.
