Quote: Change your water
About Yourself: I own a computer network company. www.ntelligentnetworks.com which provides a lot of stress which I needed a hobby so I chose this one. I have a degree in Chemistry and Biology which helps out understanding the chemistry of the tank.
Advice: Since this is my first tank I can tell you I have done a lot of research. If you purchase the Red Sea Max make sure to get a second hood. The hood light ballast went out on me and it is a special order item for about 300.00 which is nice to have on hand. I do 5 gallon water changes every Friday. I feed a combination of live and flake food every other day and do not do any supplements other than what comes in the water I keep.
Fish Kept: 2 Clown fish, 1 firefish, 1 ?, some kind of angel fish and a brittle star and blue star.
Corals/Plants Kept: I have an open brain coral, toadstool leather, another leather, pulsing zena, frogspawn, various mushrooms, sunpolyp, several star polyps, and whatever else you see in the pictures.
Tank Size: 34
Description: I have a 34 Gallon Red Sea Max. It has 2 HO T5 and 2 actinic lights. This is an out of the box setup, however, I did not use the sand that came with the tank I purchased live sand. This is my first tanks which was setup in May 08.

Quote: Do it, do it right, do it right the first time.
About Yourself: FWater Fish keeping for 9 years. Jumped into reef and been at it for 1 year. Student in university. Struggle struggle!
Advice: Stop spreading money around on several tanks. Stick to 1 display + a smaller tank to fool around and experiment. Buy good equipment at first and get rocks and AQUASCAPE it in the way you like the first time. Do it right. Once it has been aquascaped (one of those nice aquascapes you never want to tear down), add your corals accordingly. Do not adjust the aquascape to FIT your corals. By aquascaping first, you allocate the space available for certain corals. You give yourself restrictions and these restrictions (with careful planning) will lead to a nicely designed tank. If you ever want to aquascape... just go out and buy a coral.. its better for you!
Fish Kept: 2 paired Ocellaris, Sixline Wrasse, Cleaner Shrimp, Arrow Crab.

Quote: You Have Got to Have Faith Like A Blind Man Standing in the Middle of the Road.
About Yourself: I am currently a parole officer for the State of Texas. I have been in the correctional system for about 2 years. Before that I worked as an Account Manager for Lone Star Pet Supply out of Schertz TX. As I achieved my BA in Criminal Justice I worked for Polly's Pet Shop in San Antonio and New Braunfels (one of the largest independently owned shops in Texas). I started working there at the age of 16 and part time as recent as 1 year ago. I have over 10 years experience in the pet industry on both sides (retail and distribution). That is definitely where I learned the bulk of the knowledge about all this.
Advice: Stick with it, read books and magazine articles, as well as ask many questions at any of the local pet shops and stores. You can always learn a lot from experienced people in he business.
Fish Kept: There are no fish in the biocube. In the 30L I have a good mix of Lake Malawi cichlids (young ones). In the 125 I have a good mix of Tanganyikan cichlids.
Corals/Plants Kept: In the 8g biocube I have only corals. From leathers to mushrooms to frogspawns and hammer corals, as well as zoos, etc. Some are over 3 years old. They were transferred over from a 2.5g a couple years back.
Tank Size: 125
Description: I currently have an 8 gallon biocube that is setup with the 18 watt 10K and Actinic lights with the normal factory filtration system built in. I also have a 30L that is equipped with a Magnum filtration system and two light strips containing a Power Glo and one Marine Glo bulb. I also have a 125 set up with a Rena XP3 and strip lighting containing white lights as well as Actinic lighting.
