Wow, keep up the great work! It looks like your Nitrates are gradually going down (they were in the 40s?) which is excellent. I'll be following this thread!

the nitrates have never gone over 40 ppm in this tank...usually hangs around 30-40, and then after a water change, will go down about 10-15 ppm(s)

there are live plants in the tank that helps to keep the nitrates lower

thanks for your input

latest water test results as of 1/23/2011:

temperature: 82-84 (post water change: 78-82)
ammonia: 0.60 (post water change: 0)
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 50 (post water change 30)

In February 2011 I plan to test less, leaving it at once every 2 weeks unless a problem arises in the tank...in March 2011, once a month...in April 2011, only when a problem arises

temperature is recorded every day

I'll keep you guys up to date every so often

thanks for asking

tank is fine

as of 1/30/2011 test results:

Temperature: 80-82 (post water change: 78-80)
Ammonia: 0.50 (post water change: 0)
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 35 (post water change: 30)

Now I only test the tank if a problem arises. I do notate temperature every day.

thanks Alasse

yes, I only water change 8 gallons on Thursday and again on Sunday...takes about 10 minutes each day

feeding either peas (Monday & Thursday), frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp (Wednesday & Saturday) with flake food and feeze-dried bloodworms (Tuesday & Friday) and on Sunday I fast the tank...each time I feed, takes about 2-3 minutes

so I take about 30 minutes per week to maintain the tank...that way, the fish are left alone, undisturbed, less stressed

again, thanks for the comment
