i recently set up a 55 gallon tank with some tiger barbs and a couple of rainbow sharks just to establish some beneficial bacteria. i am currently running a top fin 60 power filter and a aquaclear 50 power filter. the water is pretty clear at this point but i am sure these filters will not be sufficient when i add cichlids. i am considering replacing the top fin 60 with either an emperor 400 bio-wheel or an eheim ecco canister. which one of these should i get or is there something else i should get. im looking for something that will work well while at the same time be easy to maintain. any advice would be great, thanks.

hello, well they both work great! thing is a MAJOR price diff. you can get TWO emperor 400's nearly for the price of one eheim if you purchase online, your choice.me i have nearly the same setup as you,55 gal kit from petco? top fin 60 running with the bio wheel 350 a model down from the emperor, and i have had no problems.
