How did this happen?
The last of my south american cichlids that I could not find a home for.
I converted the tank 6 months ago. I keep the PH at 8.2 and Salvini was living peacefully among the Africans.
Today I noticed that the Salvini colors were much more vibrant, and black much deeper. Protecting eggs on a sloped and vertical surface of a large rock
sitting high up in the tank.
The Salvini is hovering over the eggs and chasing away everyone that comes near them.
I assume that the Salvini is female & that eggs are hers.
Unless she is taking on the role for another.
Here is a list of the tank mates:
3 yellow zebra
3 yellow lab
3 blue zebra
5 orange Zebra
2 blue cobalt
3 electric blue peacock
2 chilumba zebra
1 rosy peacock
1 yellow peacock
1 red peacock
1 electric blue johannii
3 blue ahli
3 jewels > blood red, red, turquoise
What should I do?
Get a breeder tank? Move rock closer to gravel?
For now, I'm going to hurry up and wait.
