UV STERiLIZER

Ok my fianci likes to spend money she can home today after taking my daughter witha uv sterilizer. Im wondeing whats the point of using one? My water tests are fine my fish are happy and Ive never used one before so whats the point? i want one for the SW tank... i'm going to up the lights, so i don't want to have any floating algae... that, and it will keep your fish healthier... kills bacteria and stuff...
