moving a tank and fish from ny to nc

the only thing in my truck will be the aquarium. I was hoping I could take three quarters of the water out and leave them in the tank. It should take me about 12 hours to get to where I am going. But it looks like I will put them is a seperate container with a bubbler as it seems that is what most agree on.

i wouldn't move the tank around much with water or gravel in it... that's dangerous...

I can picture the explosion...tank water and glass everywhere. Ouch.

update I took the advise of others and put the fish in a cooler and an air bubbler had to tape where the lid met the base as the water kept splashing out at turns. made the twelve hour trip all of the fish survived and are happy in their new home.
