gh kh ph nitrite nitrate
what should the gh kh ph nitrite and nitrate levels been in a freshwater tank

depends what fish you are housing...
are you planning to get lake tanganyika cichlids...??? if not i wouldn't use the carbonate/hardness test... just the PH, nitrate and nitrite...
nitrate is usually around 20-40 depending on age of the tank, and filtration... and nitrite should ALWAYS be at 0 in a stable tank... but during the cycle it will go up to dangerous levels... that is all...
