Fisthtank worth

by spongebob4460

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about selling my fishtank and getting a larger one next year. What do you think its worth?... everything is less than a year old and in great condition, its a 20 gal acrylic with stand, see the pics in my profile. I want to incl all equipment, fake plants, and gravel with it. What should my selling price be, and does anyone know anyone in the san fernando valley thats interested?

THanks, Spongebob

$200 is the most I would pay. If you want to sell it fast I would say closer to $150.

really?

comes with tank, a really nice black stand with canopy, two powerheads, two hob filters, gravel, plants, a ton of extra filter pads and charcoal, and some other stuff. I figured the stand alone would be worth $150, but maybe i'm wrong.

The other day someone was gonna sell me a 55 gallon for $75, with everything. I guess it just depends on how fast or how bad you want the money, because it can take a while to sell it for higher prices. Also remember it is a small tank, and most people go for bigger ones. If it was me, I would just keep it. You have already invested more than you will make off of it, so save it for a refuge or breeding tank.

Well then by that, I would say take about 25-50% off what you paid for the tank/stand and everything else. If no one is buying and you want it out pronto then just keep cutting it down.

I agree with jweb, keep it and use it for a hospital or breeder tank. Or use it to build a sump for your larger tank.

I just bought a 125g (not 120 like I'd thought) with stand, sand, canopy, light bulbs, HOB filter etc, plus 14ish cichlids and a pleco for $200. Resold all but one fish (it died = ( ) for $60. The seller also threw in a 10g tank with airstones and lines (although not the pumps...) to transport all the fish in.

If you really want to know how much it'll go for I'd keep an eye on ebay/craigslist and look for ads selling similar setups.

Usually if someone knows tanks, and has a few set up then they wont want to pay much for a small one. From the looks of it yours is nice, but still I dont think it will go for much. The resell value on tanks is usually less than 50%. So I wouldnt be stuck on a high price if you really want to get rid of it.

I just bought a 20 gallon, with everything for $20 a couple weeks ago. Everyone here is right, it is all on how fast you want to get rid of it. Most people do go for bigger but a 20 gallon is a good start aquarium.

I would go to www.craigslist.com, choose your area where you live and post an ad there for free. Put down best offer (price seems to scare them away), see who emails you and see what price they are willing to pay. I kept seeing 125 gallon tanks, stands, and all the equipment for $500+, so I posted under the Item Wanted section and put down that I wanted a 125 gallon tank, stand, lights, hood, all the equipment, and some gravel if possible for $125 to $150, and someone emailed me that they had one. Full 125 gallon setup for $125.

It doesn't cost anything to post there, and tons of folks read the ads. You can try your set price and see if someone replies in about a week, then post another one best offer and see what comes your way.
