What are the exact dimensions of your tank? I can only speak for African Cichlids lovers :) I'd say go with Africans if your tank is at least 48 inches long. You can make a nice combo of mbuna's. 3-4 species with 5 fish of each species (total of 15-20 fish) again, depends on the dimensions of your tank. If you decide to go with Africans let us know. I can give you a couple of good options and good places to buy (online)

I say cichlids too! lol I've recently gotten heavy into them they are the closest looking saltwater fish I know of as a whole. I just sold off 80 dollars worth of neons, rasbora hets, and rainbows to setup a maingano/blue johanni tank. Not only are they very crisp and bright in colors they are way more active as well as interactive then any fish I've kept or watched. Yasher would agree they each have their own personality. I have all mixed cichlids from several lakes. I will have to post a pic soon waiting for a clearup. Congrats on your tank though 60 should be easy to maintain. bigger is better!

Everyone is right go cichlids! I would say African just cuz you can get more of them without being overstocked, but the South American ones are pretty cool also. My dad has an oscar and a JD in a 55 right now and thats about all he can fit, lol but his next tank is gonna be a 55 gallon African with at least 8-10 fish.

The only concern i can see is the tank is only 12 inches wide, just be mindful that you really shouldnt put cichlids in it that are going to get close to that size, especially when you put rockwork into it, leaves very little turning space.
