Sump filtering question

by TigerTaylor8906

I dont use a sump and wont be for a while, but I am curious. I have heard/read people talking about running more than one tank through the same sump setup? Is this correct? Does it not make any difference that the tanks are sharing water? It would suck if something happened to one tanks water, you would double your problems. Am I understanding correctly that people filter multiple tanks through one sump setup?

totally can be done, BUT, you hit the nail on the head, if you get a problem in one tank it can transfer to the other tank[s] - ive seen LFS's running multiple tanks on one huge sump simply for the ease of operation .................one sump to service, top off, maintain..........................its fine to do if you understand the risks
