Hi all...!
My jack dempseys bred about a month ago in a 65g tank and there is approx 30-40 successful fry being reared in the same tank as the parents. The fry range from about 5-8ml in size (so still tiny). It looks like the parents are going to breed again - well at least all the flirting and cleaning of a rock surface has started again.
In order to have another succesful spawning:
* do I need to remove the existing fry?
* Jacks are very protective or their young and normally do not need to be separated; but when do these fry stop being their babies and start being seen as a threat?
* Will the jacks kill these fry to ensure the survival of the next batch?
* If I need to separate the fry and parents am I better to move the parents to a breeding tank or the fry to a rearing tank?
* maybe they will all just keeping living together happily until the fry are bigger and at a sell-able size?
Thanks!
