as you can see my flowerhorn has a large gash on his right side. i have just started dosing the water with Melafix tonight. the gash is 4 days old and hasn't been looking any better so i went to the lps and got Melafix which seems to be just tea tree oil mixture. Is there any thing else i can do to help the little guy heal quicker? I have taken out all the carbon out of my filters. and i cant think of anything else i can do.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated thank you
large cut on my cichlid

Yikes. Call your lfs and ask them what to do. Do you have a quarantine tank? A quarantine tank won't have things in it for him to rub on further irritating the wound, you won't have to stop filtering your main tank, you won't use as much medication, you won't expose your other fish to any medications, you won't have to use as much medication, and the other fish won't start picking on the sick fish.
