Cichlid set up
Can a couple cichlids be housed in a 10 gallon? Also what are small and compatible types I could keep together?

I really don't think a 10 gallon is big enough for even the smallest cichlids. They need more room to do their thing. A male will chase a female around to get her to spawn and she needs the space to get away.

Ditto dizzcat...too small a tank for cichlids...maybe a couple of small yellows would be ok provided they are both females. But I reckon you'd be better of going with a couple of rainbows or congo tetras or something similar. Cichlids are very fussy about there environment as they have distinct behaviour things they like to do - other species are more adaptable.
