Pregnant Fishie?

by hellobethie

This may be a dumb question, but I'm not sure if my fish is pregnant.... I'm not sure how long I've had the fish, but she is the only one of her kind in my tank, so it could be possible that she was pregnant when I bought her...

i don't know if the HTML will work, but if it doesn't, just copy the link in the quotations and check out the pics!

What kind of fish is it? Live bearers can hold sperm in their bodies enough for many broods. I don't know how to download your link.

they are really wierd looking fish! lovely but wierd!

does your fish have a black spot on the rear of her belly, near the anal fin??? i woluld say she looks pegnant, but this could also be an internal infection! see if you can google the breeding site of the fish type and find out from there!

I could only see the fish with the heart. Wow! I've never seen a fish dyed that way. This one doesn't look pregnant to me. As I said before though, I'm used to mosquito fish, a similar species, and they have a black spot in their anal area when they're pregnant. Mine just gave birth to another brood of about 100 fry. Now I have 2 tanks with babies in them!

wow... i'm sorry but those tattoo's fish piss me off... i made a couple of my LFS stop caring any kind of tattoo'd fish... i've seen parrots, albino african cichlids, convicts, koi, goldfish, and even pleco's tattoo'd up... that shit sucks... do you know what the fish has to go thru when they tattoo them...

they get dipped in detergent to remove all of thier slime coat off... then they put them in a metallic chemical to make the ink penitrate the skin under the scales and then they put them in a aloe vera bassed wash to heal them up a little... by then all of thier scales fall off, and they're stressed to the point of death... i hear that only 75% of them survive the process... and everything that isn't a cichlid doesn't make it to adult hood...

so people... please stop buying tattoo'd fish, or painted fish...

sorry... but it's something that just grinds my gears...

Hellobethie. Please don't get upset buy our feelings about fish. Most of us are very passionate about how fish are treated and I bet you didn't know what this fish and it's friends had to go through to look this way. It's still your beloved fish, and I urge you to accept criticism constructively!

hellobethie i'm sorry... like peter said... you could still love your fish, and you probably got the fish because it has a tatted heart on it's side... care for that poor fish... i'm sorry if i offended you... or upset you in any way... but seriously... tattooing fish is brutal and horrible...
