i had a pair in a 55 gallon tank and the male eventually killed her from what I have read after that the only time you can keep them together is if you are trying to breed them and then even after they breed you have to get her out of the tank or he will kill her or sometimes she will kill him

i currently have three female betta's and one male betta in a 25g planted tank... my male is more beat up than the ladies, but none of my ladies are being bothered... i've had them in there for about a year now...

it's not heavily planted, but there are alot of places for them to swim to and hide about...

It's a shame that you hate the tank I think it actually looks pretty good.

i'm actually giving it away this week to a friend of mine... she might have better luck and actually make the plants thrive...

i disagree. i have a male crown and 3 females together! it was 4 but one jumped out! as long as there is more than one female the male will not persistently chase her and then eventually kill her! i also have loads of plants for the fish to hide in amongst so if they do get a bit hassled then they have somewhere to hide! all of mine seem to get along!

also with the breeding thing when the eggs are layed you are to remove the female! the male will fight with her then to protect the nest! when the fry hatch you then remove the female as she will eat the fry!. fry can then be fed brine shrimp!
