I recently just started over my whole planted tank, have a couple swords and anubias. 2.3 WPG and eheim canister filter are what I use. I need some good suggestions for background plants, and mid ground.
O ya and I need some advice on what are some, larger fish than tetras, not too big, but are really colourful. Was thinking about a german ram.
Thanks :)

How recently was recently that you ''started over''? Rams need established, stable, spot on conditions.

Some plants that i've had good luck with no CO2 and average lighting: Elodea, java fern, amazon sword, and cryptocoryne wendtii.

jungle vals make nice background as they can grow tall, dwarf valisinaria and dwarf onion plants decent mid-ground, I like the red tiger lotus for mid-foreground. Red ludwigia (reg and narrow-leaf) also fair well for mid-ground. I've had semi good results with micro sword as a foreground carpet but it does much better with CO2. Amazon sword is a wonderful hearty plant but needs a deep substrate with plenty of root nutrients and a great deal of space in the tank itself as it can get huge.

i have had best luch with 10000K and 6500k combined, over my tank i have 2 54 w 10000k and 2 54w 6500k i would suggest amason sword and jungle vails for the backround possibly some hornwart but be carfull with that it can easly overtake everything, so trimming up is a must. any type of anubius is great for midgroung and i agree with t83 on the red tiger lotus i have 5 in my tank and i love them, you might look into crystalwart as a floating plant too or if you have something that it can attach itself to it would be amazing for foreground too but it needs alot of light. java moss is always a good thing too, takes hardly any maintiance besides the occasional trimming

I was thinking of getting a little more lighting, If I had a glass hood I could put my 20 watt bulb, but that wouldnt help much... and C02 machines are too expensive...
but I heard you can make em, anyone know how?
my new bulb came today, so I will go buy some new plants soon, thanks for the help ppls
