brown on one side and green on the other.....

ok so i recently got a new light for on of the sides of my 55gal tank.....now on that side i have brown algae growing...in the other side i have green algae growing..... could it have something to do with the new light on the one side......

yeah, definitely this is the problem, which I myself used to have... reduce your aquarium lighting to about 6-7 hours max, no longer, and your algae will disappear in a couple days. This is assuming your tank has finished cycling.
