algae growing on plants?
How can I prevent algae from growing on my plants? I have had a fish tank for several years, but this is the first time with live plants. any advice is appreciated.

depends on how many plants you have. in time the live plants will lessen the growth of algae as the live plant(s) and algae compete for nutrients.
But if you want a quick remedy, buy 10-15 Olive Nerite Snails which do not eat the leaves but will consume all the algae off the plant leaves and stems.
You can purchase these snails cheaply at azgardens for 79 cents a piece or around $3.00 a piece at Dr Fosters & Smith, or you can go to your local fish store.
hope this info helps

I think I might seek out some of those myself... my bamboo does great except when algae overtakes the leaves, and anything that eats the algae just eats the entire leaf as well.
