Volume: 65x32x34 cm, 70 litres (15 galons)
Lighting and photoperiod: 3x 20W (1000lm, 4000K), 11h for day
Description of CO2 System: DIY project (CO2 reactor, JBL CO2 Vario - diffuser)
Plant spiecies list: Riccia fluitans, Heteranthera zosterifolia, Cabomba caroliniana, Limnophila aromatica, Ludwigia repens green, Eleocharis acicularis, Limnophila aquatica
Fish and invertebrate spiecies list: 15 x Cardinal tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi), 2 x Siamese algae-eater (Crossocheilus siamensis), 4 x Otocinclus mariae

The tank was set up in October 2003. The subtratum is gravel without any fertilizer. Plants were bought alomost in the same time. Aquascape is my own idea. I havent got any serious problems with algae (only incidentally). I add my own-made firtelizer and also N, P and K. Most part of plants is green (except Limnophila aromatica). Fishes and plants create natural contrast.

Water parameters:

pH=6,2-6,6

gH=10

kH=3

NO3=10

NO2=0

PO4=0,5

About Yourself: Just bought a 5ft tank 400litres for some serious cichlid keeping, Severums, Sajicas and Keyholes. A few plants such as anubias nana but more rugged and lots of rock work. Breeding is the aim.
Advice: Watch the small problems.... if you leave them they grow very fast into unmanagable ones. Make water changes and cleaning an enjoyable exercise not a chore, and get into a routine.
Fish Kept: 4 x baby Sajica Cichlids, 2 x clown loaches, 1 x garra garra, 4 Pristella tetras and three algae eating shrimps.
Plants Kept: Java moss, anubias nana, crypts, echinodorus bleheri, java fern normal + windelov, rotala and african lotus. 2 x Hagen yeast CO2 units used.
Tank Size: 45
Description: Juwel Rio 180 with Juwel filter External Fluval 304 filter NO CARBON (Causes excessive algae) 4 x 36w T8 standard tubes; Interpet Daylight, Life Glo2, Aqua Relle and JBL Natur Water is RO with DI using Seachem powder to set correct hardness. a grown up picture of my tank, things getting to a point where they are just doing what they want with out much encouragement from me, other than regular feedings, co2, r/o water changes with added nutrients and supplements to keep trace elements in the tank for the plants and the fish. using peat moss in my canister filter along with a peat nylon bag buried in the back so it can't be seen, as an additive for the plants as well as a ph controller. hope you enjoy the newer look as much as i do, i can't wait for the micro grass carpet to finish growing across the front of the tank, once it does i am going to have to start moving plants to the 55 gallon and get that setup as all live plants with more discus and a large school of cardinal tetra along with about thirty or forty ghost shrimp.

Quote: "Just keep swimming!"
About Yourself: I have switched from african and south american cichlids, to more docile fish, yes i know discus are cichlids, lol well i am more than just dabbling these days in planted aquariums, lol anything worth doing is worth doing right and with your foot to the floor so to speak, patience is key but don't be afraid once you have a properly cycled tank to add as many plants as you can properly sustain.
Advice: read, read, and read some more, don't go into anything blindly, the more knowledgeable you are the better off you are going to be and the less money you will waste. take your time and work up to it!
Fish Kept: discus, angels, tetras, cory cats many variety, fresh water clams, fresh water flounder, snails, algae eaters, danios,fw dwarf puffers, german blue ram,neons, and a few other misc fish from another tank i had setup.
Plants Kept: plants are now all live!! anubias nana several, several dwarf lilies, lace swords, moss balls, 2 mother amazon swords, many many babies from them, baby tears, dwarf baby tears, java fern, java moss, spiral crypts, red and green crypts, money wart, cabomba, cherry hedge, onion plants, several other misc plants, micro swords, fox tail red and green, no names for them, all totaled somewhere around 70 diff plants in my tank (not counting the baby swords) if i were to count them it would put me over 100 live plants in the tank. lol is the plant to gal ratio 1 plant per gallon? LOL ok sorry just had to do it.
Tank Size: 125
Description: .125 gallon long, penn plax cascade 1200 canister filter, two air stones, two 55 gal co2 injection canisters, two spectra max 6500k full spec lamp, two flora-sun 5000k plant lamp.

1 January 2008:
Bought more cherry shrimp. In theory, there should be about 13 of them in there, but I usually see about 6-7 (max). Hoping that they will be able to breed one day. Had to remove a lot of the 'Head and Tail Light' Tetra as they attack the shrimps at times. Surprising behaviour from such a small fish.

Java Moss (Taxiphyllum barbieri) is doing extremely well, as is the mini pelia (Riccardia chamedryfolia) since my Siamese Algae Eater (SAE) vanished from the tank...
