55G High-Tech Tank 3/19/08 4 months after setup(1st planted tank) |

| About Yourself: |
I'm 22 and married. I have a BFA in Online Interactive Design.
I've been keep fish for 12+ years (Since I was like 11 or 12yrs old). I wanted to be a marine biologist when I was a child. I have always been fascinated by fish, oceans and aquatic life in general.
I actually ended up being a web and graphic designer. I love keeping fish, it is my main passion after my passion and love for my wife and God. |
| Advice: |
Never give up, it's all worth it in the end. This is my first planted tank. And despite my extensive research and years of keeping fish, this tank was a virtual nightmare for like 1.5 months. This is 4 months after setup from late November in 2007. The photo is from 3/19/08 |
| Fish Kept: |
Currently, listed above, other than that, hundreds too many to name. Chichlids, tetras, barbs, etc. |
| Plants Kept: |
Listed above. Other's that didn't do well were Pygmy chain sword (E. tenellus) and sagittaria subulata (dwarf sag). Sold an Echinidorus rose, got way to large and didn't accent the layout I was going for well.
Few others I don't feel like listing |

| About Yourself: |
Been in the hobby for almost 4 years. Aquascaping is my passion as well as the science. I now write for Practical Fishkeeping magazine and am their high-tech planted tank expert. I also moderate on three planted tank internet forums. Married with two girls and a dog. I currently service Harrier jump jet ejection seats for a living. |
| Advice: |
The internet is a great source of info with plenty of good forums. Be wary of the hear-say factor though. Listen to experience. |

I never went to bed with an ugly woman, but I sure woke up with a few! |
| About Yourself: |
Said to the wife lets get a fish tank. Fell in love with the hobby. Can't see myself ever giving it up. Still love the wife though. |
| Advice: |
Well I'm new to the hobby myself. Only been in it for about 8 months. But I would suggest buying the best equipment you can possibly afford. Get a canister filter, they are worth their weight in gold. Never take the word of your LFS. Do your research. Every aquarium is different. What works for your mate may not work for you. 50%PWC weekly helps your fish thrive. |
| Fish Kept: |
Loaches, Peppered Corys, Tetras, Platies, SAE's and a few odd bods. |
| Plants Kept: |
Crypts, Swords, Anubias, Hygro, & Chain Swords.
I now use Hygrophila for filling large spaces as it grows very fast & responds excellently to CO2 and ferts & is extremely easy to grow. Although I still keep one Blue Stricta as I've had it for about a year and it's kind of sentimental. |
