Advice: I have slowly switched all my tanks over to planted tanks over the last couple years and could never go back, the fish are so much calmer, and its just plain peaceful to watch them putter around in a planted tank.
Fish Kept: 18 Cardinal Tetras, 10 Neon Tetras, 6 GlowLight Tetras, 1 SAE, 4 Peppered Corries, 3 Pearl Gouramis 1m 2f, 4 ottos, 10 Japonica shrimp And the following that will be rehomed in a differnt tank very soon and replaced with a few more Cardinals, 8 Zebra danios, 3 colombian blue red and 2 white skirt tetras
Plants Kept: The left of the tank is Riccia fluitans and Vesicularia dubyana tied down onto a system of hollow rock caves on a sand substrate. The center of the tank is all ludwigia repens, Nuphar stellata, Eleocharis parvula, Echinodorus tenellus, and a few crypts in flourabase, with a anubis on the wood that seperates the wood from the sand. The right of the tank is Microsorum pteropus regular and Windelov rooted onto a twisted pile of roots about 2 inches of the plain gravel with larger rock substrate, to create mangrove effect under them for the fish to find shelter. And a lonely crypt off in front of them.
Tank Size: 50
Description: 4' 50G planted - Tank is c02 enriched 6.4 ph, 2.5kh, 3.5gh, 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 5 to 10 mg/l nitrate. With 3.7 wpg of 6500k lighting on a 10 hour cycle.

Advice: Start with low to medium light, then add CO2 injection. After learning how to grow and care for plants you can increase lighting and grow more difficult and light demanding plant Species.

About Yourself: Small 30g tank at age 12 then left for a bit.....came back with my current tank 5 years ago and started to get into plants and aquascaping heavily. Going for Discus now with a total rebuild late 2008 in my new home...pics when its grown in and more than my one new discus.
Advice: Go big...as big as you can! Leave it be more than you mess with it...you'll have more fun with it..and you wont go crazy trying to make it JUST right!!! I envy Mr. Amano's setups but you have to know what your limits are!
Fish Kept: roseline rasboras, gold nugget pleco, cardinal tetras, betta, juli corys, otociniclus, gouramis...various others.
Plants Kept: zostrafolia(star grass) vallisnaria, tiger lotus, java fern/moss, many bulbs....again various others. Wish I could find a low growing plant to make a carpet with but selection is limited here in Vermont, importing plants is restricted.
Tank Size: 75
Description: 75g Roseline rasbora setup from early 2007. Original flourite substrate, flourish excel carbon addititive with 250w corallife power compact 10k/6k lightbulbs. Rena filstar xp3 with fine filter pads and full bio media loaded. NO co2 on this tank. Pictures are of various placements of plants and wood throughout the year. I sold off the extra plants 3 times that year so I reset the design each time. Grow time was extremely fast for all plants.

About Yourself: i kept fish years ago,but as a teenager there was other things more important,I got back into it a few years back, and now truly addicted to it,much to my wifes displeasure, I repair Automatic Transmissions for a living, which pays quite well to satisfy my fishkeeping addiction and keep the wife happy,,,
Advice: Do your homework on everything you are wanting to get and don,t impulse buy as we have all done it and it usually ends in tears, have plenty space for tanks as it,s an addictive hobby and you will always want more,
Fish Kept: discus, cardinals, rummynose red line torpedo barbs, oto,s,cory,s,bristlenose and a male betta
Tank Size: 50
Description: juwel vision 180ltr,t5 lights with reflectors, tetra complete substrate with sand on top,i dose easycarbo 5ml daily and plant nutrition 2ml daily, 1ecco 600lph eheim external,1ecco pro 200 eheim external 600lph and the juwel internal filter, i,ve alot of filtration but i have high stocking levels which has also had me doing 2x50ltr waterchanges weekly, ph 6.6,temp 28c, Considering i,m not injecting C02 the plant growth has been really good and i,m pleased with the results as it,s my first kind of serious attempt at plants, The tank has all came together quite well and the extra maintainence i put into the tank is worthwhile as my fish are healthy and i think they are happy in the planted set up rather than a barebottom tank which alot of Discus are kept in,so i,m glad i went for a planted set up,,
