This is my first attempt at a planted tank, it is;
Tank: 70lt
Lights: 2 x 20W T4's and 2 x 20W T'8's (lights are cooled by a 12V computer extractor fan in hood)
Plants: Background = Echinodorus tenellus
Foreground = Hemianthus callitrichoides
Filtration: Old school fluval 3 external.
Ferts and Co2; Co2 is injected at 1-2 bubbles per second from a fire extinguisher setup with DIY and Tropica nutrition plant food used daily. Substrate is also from Tropica with a fine layer of gravel to prevent soil disturbance.
Fish and Inverts: 4 x otto's, 5 x Amano Shrimp and 4 x Sunkist shrimp. |

| About Yourself: |
i'm a guy from malaysia basically started fish keeping since earlier 2007. how i started this hobby cause i think keeping fishes are quite relaxing when you watch them swim around, and another factor is that i've kept other pets like dogs, chipmunks, hamsters, birds, tortise, rabbits, so basically havent try fishes yet so this tank is my first tank. Been thru alot of trails and errors just to get it to the looks as it now, which is what i always wanted since i'd start this hobby . to have nice green real planted tank :) will move to bigger tank when i have enough money and space .. wish me luck |
| Advice: |
keep trying no matter how many "deaths" there were :P but do keep track on your spending budget |
| Fish Kept: |

| About Yourself: |
Started with a 20 gallon tank full of fancy gold fish about ten years ago, then got into African Cichlids for a while. I was going to start up a salt water reef aquarium untill I saw a beautiful picture of a planted aquarium on the back cover of my Aquarium Usa magasine (2004 Issue) The rest is history. |
| Advice: |
There will be times when you'll feel so frustrated that you may consider giving up! DON'T! The end result is worth it. Learn from your mistakes! And remember... there is NO fool proof system when trying to re-create a peice of nature in your livingroom, but you can eventually succeed by trial and errer and a little perseverance. |
