A HOBBYIST CANT BE A BREEDER AND A BREEDER CANT BE A HOBBYIST. |
| About Yourself: |
Im a student of 3d and currently doing my specialization in digital sculpting.
Fish keeping was always my hobby.but i started taking it more seriously about 2 years back. I have an immense interest in planted aquariums.
In addition to this tank i have one more planted setup,a betta bowl and an outdoor pond.
looking forward to set up a huge planted world! |
| Advice: |
care about your tank..dont keep it like the one in the pet store.dont just dump fish and plants in your tank.
so love your fish,plants...
planted setup surely looks great but its not very easy to begin with. read a lot of information first, plan carefully, have patience and most imp...experiment! |
| Fish Kept: |
pair of angels , neon tetra , rasbora tetra,
3 serpae tetra, 6 penguin tetra , 1 xray tetra,
dozen of shrimps. |
| Plants Kept: |
I dont know the name of all the plants.but there are 6 types of plants.
driftwood. |
| Tank Size: |
17 |
| Description: |
this is my third planted setup in this tank.its 9 months old now.NO ADDED CO2.####
Tank Size - 2ft height, 1.5 ft width and 1ft broad.####
Lighting - one Phillips 35 watt fluorescent
on from 10 am to 8 pm ####
Filter - LIFETECH AP1200
on from 10am to 8pm and from 11pm to 8am
Filter is drowned to the bottom of the tank and there is a plastic pipe attached to the outlet that comes above the surface. The pipe has several small holes(made by heating a nail)right up to the front so the water comes through them very gently.
This customization is done because the tank is only 17 gallons(relatively a small setup),and a full power filter would blow away my setup.
and besides the plants take care of the ecosystem very well.####
Substrate and Fertilizer - bottom 1inch layer of ground red soil and dried leaves, then 2 inch layer of cow manure(strange..i know), then 1 inch layer of ground red soil again and then final layer of golden sand(just to keep the whole thing settled)####
Water Changes - after 4-5 days 50% water.####
NO CO2...thats one thing im still experimenting with.but remember IT IS possible to set up a beautiful planted tank without additional co2. ####
(sorry about the quality of some of the pictures) |
