| About Yourself: |
Nurse. Fish are rewarding patients.
I spent a few years looking at tanks enviously when I went to the pet shop to get parrot food next door to the aquatic centre. I have always liked fish. When I am rich I will get a discus tank (in my dreams)...
|
| Advice: |
Read a book on fish keeping before you buy anything. Always test your tap water before commencing. If it has a high PH and has amonia in it, one idea is to start off with at least half bottled water that has a low PH and no amonia. This may ultimately save you money buying expensive products to try to bring your PH down and get rid of amonia in your new tank. |
| Fish Kept: |
Four Angel fish
Names: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel.
|
| Plants Kept: |
lots of live plants and one artificial plant
Only one object - a turtle log which the angels love. It also decreasest the light to the one plant I have which needs less lighting than the others.

3-gallon Picotope with supplemental lighting |
| About Yourself: |
I used to have a 55-gallon planted tank, but now I am in a smaller apt. so I am trying out the nano tank. So far, I think it is quite elegant, but we'll see how everything fares in the long run! I welcome all (constructive) feedback, so please let me know what you think! |
| Advice: |
Less is more, unless you are talking about plants, in which case more is more! Understock, and in your first month, you are better off not stocking anything at all and letting the plants and bacteria work their magic. |

| Advice: |
Don't buy too many fish until your tank is stable. Angel fish grow big :) oh and snails get out of control very very quickly. |

| About Yourself: |
Started keeping fish in a 29G long tank my stepfather brought home one day. Never looked back. Spent quite a lot over the years, but it's been worth it to me. |
| Advice: |
When trying to grow plants BOTH the amount of light you have and the SPECTRUM of light you have ARE KEY!!!!!! Plants need light in the red spectrum to photosynthesize!!! As well your available light spectrum will have to be specific to your plants and fish! If you have a blue fish but very low blue light from your lights the fish won't shine it's brightest! Keep them fed well, (i feed once a day every morning when i turn on the lights). Filtration and water quality are very very very important! Relax, have patience, enjoy the tank. My tank is several years old and doesn't even look as good as I want it but you can't rush these things |
